Why lab IDs matter in eFiling
A Children’s Product Certificate must rest on tests from a CPSC-accepted third-party lab, and eFiling asks for the lab’s 4-digit CPSC ID. Lab portals check their own reports; importers who use several labs and factories have nothing that checks them all. This does.
Source: CPSC list of CPSC-accepted testing laboratories (all 737 labs, downloaded 2026-11-03) and CPSC’s list of labs with adverse action (as of May 1, 2026). Scope matching compares CFR part numbers in your citations with each lab’s accepted scopes. We refresh the copy regularly; always confirm in CPSC’s own lab search before you certify.
Questions
Where does the lab list come from?
From CPSC’s public list of CPSC-accepted testing laboratories, downloaded on 2026-11-03 (737 labs), and CPSC’s list of labs with adverse action (as of May 1, 2026). Contact details of lab staff are not copied. The date is shown on every result.
Which labs were withdrawn in 2026?
CPSC’s adverse-action list shows Final Notices for lab IDs 1843 and 1857 (January 27, 2026) and 1755 (March 12, 2026); 1755 and 1857 were first withdrawn on January 8, 2026. Older withdrawals include 1415 and 1606. Certificates that rely on these labs’ tests need new testing at an accepted lab.
What does “out of scope” mean?
Each lab is accepted only for specific CPSC rules. If your certificate cites, for example, 16 CFR part 1250 (toys) and the lab’s accepted scopes do not include it, the result says so. Matching is by CFR part number, so a person should still check the exact test methods.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The lab list is a static file on this site; your lab IDs and citations are checked in your browser.
Does an accepted lab mean my product complies?
No. It only means the ID is on CPSC’s list for those scopes on the date shown. It is not legal advice and does not confirm the test results.
